Laws academic speaks at International Corporate Governance Law Forum

16 May 2016

Barnali Choudhury gave a talk and moderated a session at the International Corporate Governance Law Forum recently held in Hong Kong

Delegates

The Forum, entitled ‘Reflections on Voluntary Corporate Governance Codes: Is it now time to move on from a “soft law” approach to a “hard law” approach?’ critically evaluated whether voluntary compliance with good corporate governance practices is the most effective way of ensuring that corporations act responsibly.

Barnali spoke on the issue of business and human rights in this context.  Her talk, “Business and Human Rights on the Continuum of Soft to Hard Law”, examined whether (and how) business and human rights initiatives should be hardened from their dominant position in soft law.

More details about the Forum can be found at on their website.
