You can’t blame Brussels for Brexit – Ronan McCrea in The Irish Times
30 June 2016
Dr. Ronan McCrea of UCL Laws writes in The Irish Times newspaper that charges of a lack of democracy and accountability made against EU institutions are only partially true. He argues that EU voters do ultimately determine the make up of EU institutions. He suggests that the problems with EU democracy are not unique, in fact, institutions across the democratic world are suffering from voter disengagement and loss of power to courts and other unelected bodies.
