The Joint Committee on Human Rights’ report focuses on the human rights implications of Brexit and cites, in several places, the oral evidence given to it by Professor O’Cinneide. The report highlights the continuing uncertainty that persists in relation to the status of both EU citizens in the UK and the 1.2 million UK nationals living elsewhere in the EU, and calls for the UK government to take steps to clarify their situation. It also rejects the idea that non-UK nationals could be used as ‘bargaining chips’ in the Brexit negotiation process.
