This fourth edition of the International Mergers Conference will take place in University College London on Tuesday 23 May 2023. The conference is organised by Concurrences in partnership with University College London with the support of panel and media sponsors.

Topics to be covered include

  • Developments of New Theories of Harm in Merger Reviews
Discussion surrounding new theories of harm in sectors that are now in the spotlight such as the pharmaceutical, technology and environmental sectors.
  • Sustainability in Merger Control
Hot topics in sustainability will include green efficiencies that can lead to reduced environmental harm in merger control cases, the interconnection between competition policy and the Green Deal, theories of harm in innovation, and green killer acquisitions.
  • Mergers in the Pharmaceutical Industry
The pharmaceutical industry is impacted by numerous reforms in the US, the EU, but also within member states, such as pricing reforms and an inflation reduction law. It is also a sector in which the phenomenon of killer acquisitions can be discussed or the concept of potential competition.
  • Merger Control and Private Equity
Private equity is under discussion in the US, but also in the EU and the UK. For example, in the US, the FTC and the DOJ have suggested that the private equity investment model is in conflict with antitrust laws. Many competition authorities in the EU have also taken a position on this issue and numerous decisions have been issued.
