About the lecture

This lecture intends to offer a reflection on the developments occurred two decades after the adoption of the International Law Commission's landmark text on State Responsibility (UNGA Resolution 56/83, 12 December 2001). It will also provide an opportunity to discuss the future of the Articles on Responsibility of States for Internationally Wrongful Acts (ARSIWA)”, just a few months ahead of the next debate within the UNGA Sixth Committee on the topic in the Fall of 2022.

About the speaker

Patrícia Galvão Teles is a member of the United Nations International Law Commission. She is Associate Professor of International Law at the Autonomous University of Lisbon and Co-Director of the eAcademy of International Law at the Centre for International Law of the National University of Singapore. She is also a member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration, Legal Adviser at the Legal Department of the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Vice-President of the Portuguese Society of International Law.
