About the event

One of the most contentious, and practically relevant, areas of the employment statute book, sitting at the cross roads between dignitarian and job-security claims and the exercise of the managerial prerogative, unfair dismissal law is often the object of politically charged debates and conflicting regulatory rationales.

But has its less than linear, and not always principled or coherent, developmental trajectory reached its limits?

This panel of experts will revisit some of the key institutions and doctrines of the law of unfair dismissal while pointing out some of the inconsistencies of the current legal framework and suggesting a series of possible reforms that could restore coherence to this key area of employment legislation.
