Studying with a teacher: Education beyond the logic of progress
Join this event to hear Piotr Zamojski present a thought-experiment aimed at thinking of education beyond the logic of progress.
He will reconstruct the entanglement of the modern idea of progress (in Francis Bacon and Comenius) and education, while tracking down the coupling of obedience and conquest at work.
Piotr will suggest a link between progress and of emancipation – acknowledging the difficulty of imagining education outside progress. He will then suggest that when studying with a teacher, the logic of progress is deactivated.
This in-person event will be particularly useful for those interested in the philosophy of education, educational theory and the idea of progress.
