Professor and Researcher of the Post-Graduate Program in Performing Arts

The Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro

Charles Feitosa gained his PhD in philosophy from the University of Freiburg. His book ‘Explicando Filosofia com Arte’ (Learning Philosophy with Art) won the prize Jabuti 2005 (category Didactics and Paradidactics). It was also adopted by the Ministry of Education in Brazil in 2007 and distributed to all state secondary schools in the country.  

He is an experienced teacher of philosophy, with emphasis on modern and contemporary aesthetics, and dealing mainly with the following topics:

  • body
  • image
  • performance
  • art education
  • Brazilian culture
  • pop culture. 

As an activist he is engaged in aesthetic-political actions that promote the exchange of practical and theoretical forms of knowledge, between classrooms and city streets
