CST Provision

A similar clinical and psychological approach to CST in Russia is the 'Clinic of Memory'. Access to CST programmes in Russia in the future will be determined by the project 'Preventing Cognitive Deficits in the Elderly', which has been established by the Moscow State University of Psychology and Education, in partnership with Tverskoy branch of the Moscow State Budget Institution “Arbat Territorial Center for Social Services. Clients who attend this centre range from 55 - 90 years and approximately 60 people are enrolled every year.

The manual has been translated and culturally adapted for Russian participants.

CST: Research Project and Implementation in Russia

The project "Preventing Cognitive Decline in the Elderly and Old Age Population" was implemented by the Moscow State University of Psychology and Education (MSUPE) between 2019 and 2023. As part of this project, the research team at MSUPE conducted a cultural adaptation and piloting of the Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) approach for application within the Russian context.

Main objectives of the Research Project:

  • Translation, cultural adaptation, and piloting of the Making a Difference manual into Russian
  • Investigation of the acceptability of CST among older adults in Russia
  • Implementation of CST with a Russian sample of older adults residing in nursing homes or attending social and medical centres in Moscow

Recognition of the Approach
In 2024, the CST-based masterclass "Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) in Working with Mnestic-Intellectual Deficit in Late Age" was awarded the Golden Psyche, a national professional award in the field of psychology in Russia. Website: https://cst.mgppu.ru/en/awards/.
