Dr Georgios Kritikos

Georgios Kritikos is an Associate Professor of Historical Geography at Harokopio University in Athens in Greece. He studied History and Archaeology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Scholarships allowed him to continue his postgraduate studies and he holds an MPhil in European Studies from the University of Cambridge (St Catharine's College) and an MA in International Security Studies from the University of Leicester. He received his PhD from the Department of History and Civilization of the European University Institute in Florence, Italy. In 2013, he was accepted as a Visiting Scholar at Pembroke College, University of Cambridge. His research interests focus on refugees in the inter-war and modern period, on nationalism and identities in space. This research has been published in books, chapters in volumes and in articles.

His current research project at the Institute of Advanced Studies is to examine how refugee flows served the rise of nationalism in Europe.
