The Department of Scandinavian Studies (SELCS/UCL) and EISPS (UCL European & International Social & Political Studies) invite you to a seminar on the Arctic, focusing particularly on issues of politics and sustainability. We will be visited by Prof Klaus Dodds, Professor of Geopolitics at Royal Holloway and a specialist on Arctic issues as well as special adviser to the government, and Dr Ingrid Medby, Lecturer in Human Geography at the School of Geography, Politics and Sociology at Newcastle University. The discussion will be led by Dr Mart Kuldkepp, Head of Department of EISPS, and the seminar aims to high-light current arctic issues while also considering how academic involvement might support, lead or challenge work in and on the region. It is the first event in series of talks aimed at looking at contemporary issues in Nordic studies with a wider relevance and remit. The seminar will be followed by a reception and is kindly supported by The Nordic Council through the Coordinating Committee for Nordic Studies (SNU).
The number of tickets are limited to comply with current UCL regulations. Registration is essential. Please wear a mask when attending (unless exempt).
