A subtle and thoughtful film, 'The Mad Man's Truth' follows and listens to Thierno Seydou Sall, known as a 'wandering poet', who tries to bring about change in rural parts of Senegal through provocative, taboo-transgressing poetry. Along the way, we see him engage with key cultural figures in Senegal and hear about his personal journey.
Cheikh A. Bamba Diop is a Senegalese documentary filmmaker with strong social interests and engagements. He graduated from Média-Centre Dakar (Dakar Film School) in 1999 and his first documentary was a plea for the abolition of FGM in Senegal, made with the female rap activist Sister Fa. Diop is currently working on his first feature film, on African migration to Europe. He also uses photography as an artistic and social resource within the framework of the group project “Regard sur la ville de Rufisque”.
