- Why do we lie in business? Is lying so central to 'doing business' - particularly in the guise of little white lies or non-disclosure vs huge scandal - that it is inescapable?
- Are some lies acceptable or needed for business to progress?
- If the motif is profit then what is justifiable in the name of profit? What about lying to shareholders?
- Is advertising lies? When does presenting your best narrative about your business become lies?
- Disclosure in business: what needs to be disclosed and what doesn’t, is holding things back lying?
- Where business, academia and lies meet - fake research to support corporate causes (i.e. anti climate change)
- Is there a gender aspect to lying in business? Because the business world has been male dominated for so long? Is lying "macho"? Are men more likely to exaggerate to impress?
This event is only open to UoL staff and students.
This talk is suported by and organised in collaboration with Mishcon de Reya's Mishcon Academy.
