We are delighted to announce that the MA / PgDip Library and Information Studies programme in the Department of Information Studies at UCL has been re-accredited for the next five years, till January 2026.
The accreditation process, run by the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP), evaluates the course content and its suitability for students who are planning to go into professional library and information practice. Our mission is to strengthen traditional principles with cutting edge practice. We are continually developing our programme to reflect the wider information environment and secure the best opportunities for our students and graduates. This accreditation continues to sustain a long-term relationship between the course at UCL and professional excellence going back to the early days of library studies, over 100 years ago.
CILIP say: “…accreditation is designed to help students choose library, information and archive career programmes that cover the essential skills and knowledge, and have been rigorously assessed. All programmes are assessed using the Professional Knowledge and Skills Base (PKSB) tool which identifies the core knowledge and skills of the profession. A CILIP accredited academic programme is the best preparation for professional practice.” (https://www.cilip.org.uk/general/custom.asp?page=qualifications)
