Bethany Johnstone

I am a MPhil/PhD candidate at the University College London, Department of Information Studies. I am researching information behaviours of dance researchers and archival resources. The primary aim of my doctoral project is to investigate how an online archive portal could connect UK dance archives; helping to make dance archives more accessible online for users.

Previously, I have completed both an MSc Information Science at University College London and an MA Dance and Cultural Studies at University of Surrey. My MA dissertation at University of Surrey investigated dance documentation; my MSc dissertation at UCL investigated the current landscape of dance archives within the UK.

Additionally, I am a postgraduate teaching assistant (PGTA) within UCL DIS, helping with Fundamentals of Information Science, Introduction to Digitisation, Introduction to Programming and Scripting, Web technologies, Programming 1, Data visualisation and GIS and Information Systems. Furthermore, I am a member of the Association of Performing Arts Collections (APAC), Society for Dance Research and SIBMAS.
