UKCRC Tissue Directory and Coordination Centre

The mission of the UKCRC Tissue Directory and Coordination Centre (UKCRC TDCC) is to maximise the use, value and impact of the UK's human sample resources in the UK and beyond. The UKCRC TDCC has created a world-leading networked biobanking infrastructure to facilitate the discovery and use of the UK's human samples and data.

The mission of the UKCRC TDCC was mandated by the UK Clinical Research Collaboration via their Vision for Human Tissue Resources. The UKCRC TDCC works to help researchers discover samples and data, help sample resources improve their data systems, and harmonise policy relating to the discovery and use of samples and data.

The work of the UKCRC TDCC is guided by the belief that the biomedical research ecosystem should be based on open standards, open-science, and pre-competitive collaboration.

The UKCRC Tissue Directory

The UKCRC Tissue Directory is the UK's only register of sample collections that covers multiple diseases and allows searching based on age, gender, disease classification, sample type and available datasets.

How to search:

  • Search using Disease Search using your disease interest. A drop down will appear with relevant disease types. If you are interested in non-diseased samples try searching "fit and well".
  • List of Diseases If you are unsure, you can browse our list of diseases. If you can't find what you're looking for please get in touch and let us know your disease interest.
  • List of Biobanks Looking for a specific Biobank? Then head over to our list of all the sample collections registered in the Directory.
  • Browse all collections sites Have a look through a list of all sites with the capacity to collect samples on request.
  • Browse all samples Look through a list of all registered collections and filter based on your storage or data requirements.

If you are a researcher who needs help in locating samples or you’d like to register your collections please get in touch:
