Senior Women in Leadership

Reflect on your leadership profile and plan how to grow your skills and develop your impact as a senior leader; for grades 8 and 9.

Our flagship leadership enhancement programmes for women are delivered through a hybrid of self-paced development modules and interactive online group sessions. Connect with like-minded colleagues in a secure space to improve your leadership skills and increase your impact as a Senior Leader at UCL.

About the programme

c. 40 hours over five months. Includes a mixture of face-to-face workshops, asynchronous study and peer meetings, with an option to undertake a 360-degree feedback exercise.  

  • Designed to support delegates in considering and developing their leadership profile and skills
  • Provides practical tools to support delegates to develop productive relationships, influence others and recognise and address barriers to progression
  • Improves line-management skills and cultivates a space for leadership growth 
  • The programme's design is governed by UCL's recognition that women are underrepresented at senior leadership levels.

The programme is taught through a mixture of self-paced learning, virtual and face-to-face workshops, and 30 places are available in each cohort. Facilitators are both UCL-employed and external professionals who bring a wealth of knowledge, passion and perspectives to this leadership enhancement journey.

Learning outcomes

By completing this leadership program, you will:

  • Challenge and redefine gender stereotypes in leadership to express your true self as a leader.
  • Prioritise well-being and resilience in your leadership approach.
  • Foster self-awareness, self-management, relationship management, and social awareness.
  • Improve your team leadership by utilising coaching and mentoring techniques to become a more effective leader.
  • Hone your negotiation and influencing abilities, manage complex relationships with stakeholders, and make more compelling arguments for change.
  • Establish supportive connections, networks, and shared experiences with other participants.

Eligibility

This program is for Grades 8-9 women, including non-binary people comfortable in a women-centred community. It helps develop leadership and people management skills.
