Unitemps at UCL and fee update

The Unitemps branch celebrated 2 years at UCL this October, and has helped colleagues across UCL with their recruitment needs. From February 2021, Unitemps fees are due to increase - find out what this means for you.
Since October 2018, Unitemps has been helping colleagues across UCL with their recruitment needs as well as providing a growing pool of talented temporary workers, many from our student population, who represent the excellence and diversity of the university community at large. Unitemps offers a streamlined, online management of temporary workers that saves time and reduces admin work for hiring managers, removing the need to carry out eligibility to work checks.
The initially agreed Unitemps fee was set at 8%. Whilst Unitemps was being established, however, we took the decision to set this at 3%. Over the last two years, Unitemps has grown significantly and has been able to offer a wider range of services, from processing direct bookings and taking Right-to-Work documentation through to running full recruitment campaigns that include supporting the shortlisting for temporary roles.
In order to sustain this service and continue being able to provide high levels of support to departments and hiring managers, the fee paid for Unitemps services now needs to increase to the level originally advised. However, we understand that an increase from 3% to 8% would be a significant uplift within a short space of time so a decision has been made to lift the fee in increments.
From 1st February 2021, the Unitemps fee will increase to 5%. The increase will be automatically applied to existing roles. From 1st August the fee will move to 8%.
Over the past 24 months, Unitemps processed 3,050 jobs and over 10,500 individual assignments. Most recently, the team have supported colleagues with some large recruitment campaigns including:
- 200 Asymptomatic COVID-19 testing Assistants and Sample Processors
- 250 Connected Learning Student Interns (Summer and Winter)
- 180 Accommodation Ambassadors and Teams Leaders
- 1100 Transition Mentors to support new incoming students in 2020/21
