International Conference of Ethiopian Studies 2022, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, September 2022

AFRAB’s third workshop happened alongside the 21st International Conference of Ethiopian Studies, hosted by AFRAB’s partner, the Institute of Ethiopian Studies of Addis Ababa University. AFRAB’s panel, consisting of six presentations, was entitled “After Abolition: Slavery, Labour, and Social Stratification in Ethiopia since 1942” and gave rise to discussions with other Ethiopian and international conference participants. After the ICES’s end, AFRAB held an internal research workshop at which researchers discussed their preliminary findings and future plans under the main axes of inquiry that they are pursuing in the framework of the AFRAB Project.
