18 June 2020

We are delighted that Dr Johanna Dale's British Academy funded research project will feature as part of the BA Summer Showcase, which will be taking place online 19th - 20th June 2020.

How did the story of Saint Oswald of Northumbria, a seventh-century king, achieve cult status in medieval Germany? Dr Johanna Dale will explain how the stories of saints in the medieval period spread through communities and across borders, and how the tale of Oswald took on a life of its own as part of the British Academy Virtual Summer Showcase

Johanna's presentation will be available via the British Academy Youtube channel from 11am on Saturday 20th June. You can read more about Johanna's research ahead of her presentation, by visiting her blog piece on the subject which is on the British Academy website: How did cults of saints spread across the medieval Christian world?

The British Academy Summer Showcase is a completely free virtual event which will run on Friday 19th and Saturday 20th June. If you're looking for something interesting this weekend, this is it! You can view the full programme of events here
