Newton International Fellowship - Applications Open
8 February 2019
The UCL History Department welcomes expressions of interest for the Newton International Fellowship scheme.
The Newton International Fellowship provides funding for two years for an early career researcher to visit a UK university. It is for those currently based outside the UK and who have spent less than 12 months of the last 36 months in the UK. UK nationals currently overseas are not eligible to apply.
A recipient of the Fellowship, Michael Facius (pictured above) says: "The Newton International Fellowship is an immense opportunity for me. It has given me the freedom to concentrate on my book project for an extended period of time in the stimulating and congenial research environment at UCL."
Applicants for consideration by the Department should hold a PhD, have at least one article or book chapter published or in press, and should have no more than 7 years of active full time postdoctoral experience at the time of application (discounting career breaks, but including teaching experience and/or time spent in industry). Successful fellows will start in post between October 2019 and March 2020.
Applications through UCL History need to have the support of an academic member of staff to act as sponsor. Interested applicants are encouraged to review the research profiles of UCL History staff and to contact the appropriate academic. Potential applicants must have submitted their expression of interest to their potential sponsor in the department no later than Wednesday 6th March 2019. Additional guidance can be provided by the Department’s Director of Research, Professor Margot Finn (m.finn@ucl.ac.uk).
