In June 2018, UCL Press issued a revised and updated edition of The World of UCL. The book, which was written by UCL History emeritus professors John North and Negley Harte alongside Georgina Brewis of the Institute of Education, charts the institutional history of University College London from its foundation in 1826 until the present day.

UCL was the first university in England to admit students regardless of religion, and effectively the first to welcome female students on equal terms with men. As the book records, this innovatory spirit has always been reflected in the university's teaching and research as well as its policies. That is still true today. UCL is now a truly global institution, ranked seventh in the in the QS World University Rankings and popular with staff and students from around the world.

If you would like to learn more about the journey from foundation to present-day success, you could not do better than to pick up a copy of The World of UCL. Even better, as with all UCL Press publications, the book is available to download for free. You can also order a paperback copy for the very reasonable price of £30.00.
