UCL History researchers mark St Pancras International's 150th birthday

18 September 2017

St Pancras Station

Iconic London landmark St Pancras International station will celebrate its 150th birthday next year. As part of the celebrations, HS1, the company which owns and operates St Pancras, is partnering with UCL History to conduct a research project into the station's past. More than 30 undergraduate and MA students are working on archives from the British Library, London Transport Museum and UCL to uncover 150 stories, facts and images which reflect the building's remarkable history.

Departmental Research Director Margot Finn, who is leading on the project from the UCL side, commented: "This project provides current undergraduate and Masters students in our Department an exceptional opportunity to hone and showcase the research skills developed by their programme of study. We're very much looking forward to enriching local, national and international appreciation for St Pancras International and the wider area in which we are based. This project is another opportunity to demonstrate London's leading role in technological innovation, travel and much more from past centuries to the present".

Project findings will be released in early 2018.
