How to apply

Detailed guidance on the UCL Excellence Fellowship application process.

What you will need

  • Guidance document
  • A covering letter detailing how your appointment will stimulate positive action to address underrepresentation of groups targeted by eugenics within UCL. It should also include details of why you are applying for this fellowship at UCL, as well as a summary of your track record in your research field to date, and plans on how you will use this fellowship to establish an independent career and lead your own research group (maximum two A4 side, Arial pt 11, 1.5 line spacing)
  • A research proposal outlining the planned research, with emphasis on vision and ambition (maximum two A4 sides, no less than Arial pt 11 font, 1.0 line spacing, references can be on a separate page). Should it be relevant to your research programme, please include an additional brief section (150 word maximum) on any likely health, technology or other possible impacts from your research
  • Your CV (maximum three A4 sides, no less than Arial pt 11, 1.0 line spacing) plus full publication list (publications do not count towards the three page limit).
  • A completed application form (Word), downloaded from the UCL job vacancy page.

How to apply

  1. Read the guidance documentation and FAQs for applicants in full.
  2. Enter the UCL online recruitment system. Search for the vacancy (using "Excellence Fellowship" and click on the job title.
  3. From near the bottom of the job vacancy page, download the application form (Word) and job description.
  4. Complete the information required in the online application.
  5. Upload your CV in the "upload CV" section.
  6. Compile the following documents into a single pdf document:
    1. - The completed application form (see point 3 above)
    2. - Covering letter
    3. - Research proposal
  7. Upload these documents into "Supporting Documents" 
  8.  Check your application and submit

Deadline

The deadline for applications is: 4pm, 10 January 2022.


Review process

Shortlisting

Applications will be reviewed and shortlisted for interview based on the criteria in the job description and person specification. Outcomes of shortlisting will be made available in February. Please note that due to the large volume of applications, we are unable to provide detailed feedback to applicants. 

Interviews

For invited candidates, interviews will be held in week commencing 21 February 2022.
