Global Research Funding

UCL academics undertake cutting-edge research with collaborators across the world, to address challenges faced by low- to middle-income countries (LMICs).

As London’s Global University, UCL is not only recognised for its academic excellence but also, its global impact. Research undertaken at UCL is making a difference to some of the world’s most vulnerable populations.

Our team offers support, guidance, and information to help UCL researchers plan and conduct their international research. This includes:

  • Helping researchers to identify and develop strong proposals for global research funding
  • Providing advice on due diligence processes and other compliance issues
  • Providing advice on Official Development Assistance (ODA) funding and ODA funded research activities
  • Highlighting internal and external global research funding opportunities and signposting to major funders
  • Signposting to relevant UCL guidance and processes.

UCL LMIC Toolkit

Working in an overseas context often generates additional complexities not faced when working with UK partners. The UCL LMIC Toolkit collates UCL operational information relating to overseas research for the UCL community to support academic and professional services staff undertaking work in LMICs, and those with partners based in LMICs. This toolkit provides an understanding of the research lifecycle and guides readers to research support resources available at UCL.
