UCL Geography academics discuss the first Europeans on The Ancients podcast

Professor Chronis Tzedakis and Dr Vasiliki Margari join host Tristan Hughes to explore how climate change drove some of Europe’s earliest humans to extinction.
The Ancients is the wildly popular ancient history podcast where historians and archaeologists discuss everything from Neolithic Britain to the Fall of Rome.
In the latest episode, Professor Tzedakis and Dr Margari explore the topic of Europe's earliest humans, who lived over 1.2 million years ago. From initially roaming the Iberian plains in small groups, they spread across the Pyrenees into the wider European continent. But all traces of them appear to vanish for more than 100,000 years.
