How human activity shapes the relationships of water and climate

Professor Richard Taylor has been appointed Chief Editor of a new section of the journal Frontiers in Water launched this week: Frontiers in Water and Climate.

He sees the potential to create a new open-access forum dedicated to the interactions between water and climates past, present and future.  As he argues:

"An improved understanding of relationships between water and climate is central to the development of resilient solutions to alleviate poverty and hunger, and sustain the water supplies and ecosystems upon which life on earth depends."

Richard took on the position to promote greater inter- and cross-disciplinary discussion of water and climate, especially how human activity, directly and indirectly, shapes their relationships. There is a need to broaden the range of perspectives contributing to scientific debates.

As Chief Editor, he is supported by a global network of Associate Editors with a wide range of expertise and a dedicated group of Review Editors to provide robust and timely reviews of manuscripts.

Richard believes that the journal will be able to cultivate trust in the research community, and is also attracted to the comparatively lower costs of open-access publishing, with a sliding scale for authors from lower-income countries, intended to facilitate submissions from across the planet.
