UCL Geography: Now in World Top Two for research performance

UCL Geographers win more national dissertation prizes

The 2019 ShanghaiRanking Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS), released on 26 June, ranks UCL Geography as one of the Top Two geography departments in the world for academic and research performance. This is a rise from 5th in the world in 2017.

In particular, UCL Geography was the best in the world for the number of papers published in the top journals during the 2013-2017 period.

ShanghaiRanking began to publish the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) by subjects in 2009. For 2019, more than 4000 universities were ranked in 54 subjects, based on the number of research papers published in Nature and Science, their citation by other authors, and international collaboration.
