Dr Eleanor Blakelock joins Lordship and Landscape
15 October 2018
Dr Eleanor Blakelock joined the Lordship and Landscape team on 1 June. Ellie specialises in the study of ancient metallurgy. Her particular specialism is Anglo-Saxon metallurgy, with a PhD in Anglo-Saxon and Viking ironwork, and having been the lead metals scientist studying the gold, silver and copper alloys in the Staffordshire Hoard project.
She will be working on the gold, silver and copper alloy objects and metalworking waste from Rendlesham. The study will investigate the use of alloys, with an aim to investigate the metalworking practices, metal sources used and distribution of objects made at Rendlesham. She is looking forward to working closely with the team as it enters the next exciting stage.
