UCL invites you to explore the Petrie Museum and the Flaxman Gallery through tours, talks, and late night openings as part of Heritage Open Days, England’s largest festival of history and culture.

This year UCL Museums are taking part in Heritage Open Days, England’s largest festival of history and culture, with tours, talks, and late night openings taking place at the Petrie Museum and UCL Art Museum.

All our events are free and open to everyone, but please note that some require you to book in advance.

 

Tour the Flaxman Sculpture Gallery

Come along for a one-hour walking tour of the Flaxman Sculpture Gallery, containing the largest single group of works by neoclassical British artist John Flaxman. The Flaxman Collection at UCL represents a unique archive of the artist's work, comprising of his plaster models, drawings, and prints. For Heritage Open Days we are offering exclusive guided tours sharing the fascinating story behind this stunning collection.

Egyptology After Hours: Museum Late at the Petrie Museum of Egyptian & Sudanese Archaeology

Explore our world-famous Egyptology collection after hours! With children’s colouring activities and friendly guides on hand, join us on a 350,000-year journey through the story of ancient Egypt. As part of Heritage Open Days, we are opening up the Petrie Museum for two evening lates this September. Get up close and personal with the intimate objects used by people in the past and discover their exciting histories.

Also on at the Petrie Museum... Seventy Years in the Stables: Talk from our Curatorial Team

Join our museum curatorial team for a talk celebrating seventy years of the Petrie Museum in its current location at UCL. Discover surprising stories and the history of the characters behind our collection. This event comprises of a 30-minute talk by our museum curators alongside the opportunity to view archival and archaeological ephemera not usually on display, as well as free viewing of the museum spaces after hours.
