Family Event: What's in a Name?

Workshop
 |
29th Oct 2022
11:00  - 14:00

A chart showing Egyptian hieroglyphs with the letters they represent underneath, and an overlaid sheet of paper with handdrawn versions on top

Saturday 29 October
11am, 12 noon and 1pm

Learn how to write your name in ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics and design your very own throne name (cartouche), just like Tutankhamun once did!

Discover how archaeologists like Margaret Murray recorded hieroglyphics and create a clay impression (squeeze) to take home with you in this workshop led by artist Orly Orbach.

The workshop is suitable for ages 6+, but young children will need adult help. We will have colouring sheets available for younger children.

Please book spaces for children only - accompanying adults do not need tickets.

Please also note that any pre-booked spaces not claimed 10 minutes after the start of each event may be reallocated to drop-in visitors.

There is step-free access to the Petrie Museum via the lift in the UCL Science Library and the majority of the Museum is accessible.
