A close-up of a threaded homemade cardboard loom, some balls of yarn, coloured pencils and a drawing of a simplified ancient Egyptian figure

11am - 2pm: Free drop-in for all family visitors. Booking not required.

Unravel the secrets of the Tarkhan Dress, the world's oldest known woven clothing, and learn how this 5,000-year-old linen dress was made.

Create your own weaving loom with cardboard and then weave your own cloth using colourful linen threads in this workshop led by arts educator Clare Sams.

Discover why linen was so precious to the ancient Egyptians and why they made such an effort to repair and reuse their clothes.

This workshop is suitable for ages 6+ but young children will need adult help. We will have colouring sheets available for younger children.
