175 Years of Mechanical Engineering at UCL is a two-part display that celebrates mechanical engineering as a human endeavour. It reflects upon advancements that have revolutionised the modern world, as well as contributions from UCL’s own Mechanical Engineering department at 175 years.
Modern developments in mechanical engineering both globally and at UCL are rooted in and borne out of a myriad of discoveries that have been made over millennia and all around the world; some of which can be traced to as far back as ancient Egypt.
This display explores the long history of mechanical engineering, and how UCL’s own department’s current research is addressing future challenges.
