The world is full of problems, but it’s also full of brilliant people, chipping away at those problems with their ideas and expertise.
Focus on the Positive ran from 2012-2017 and gave public groups the chance to choose how to improve the world. At the events, some of UCL’s inspiring researchers shared exactly how they want to tackle the Big Issues in our world. The audience then had a chance to mingle and debate the issues before voting on what they wanted to support right there on the spot. The winning researcher got £2,000 to spend on the idea that they proposed. A runner-up also received £1,000 to take their project forward.
It’s was great opportunity to debate some big questions, meet people who are passionate about changing the world for the better, and make a difference!
Focus on the positive was organised by the UCL Public Engagement Unit and has been supported by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and Wellcome Trust.
