Joint Degrees

Greek and Latin can be studied in combination with other subjects. Time is usually split equally between each department.

Degrees combined with Latin

BA SELCS Language and Latin (various codes)

Latin can be studied in combination with a variety of modern languages, including German, Dutch, French and Spanish.  An A Level 'A' (or equivalent) in Latin is required.  The degree includes one year abroad.
Students taking a joint degree with Latin will need to take a minimum of 30 credits of Latin language per year, core modules in their 1st year (CLAS0006 Interpreting Latin Literature) and 2nd year (CLAS0020 Classics and Literary Theory) and the remaining 15 credits can be chosen from any of our modules.

Degrees combined with either Latin OR Greek

BA Language and Culture (R991)

This degree begins with two languages (one may be learned from scratch) and you can either continue both or carry on with one throughout the degree.  An A Level 'A' (or equivalent) in Latin or Greek is necessary if it is to be your main language.  The degree includes one year abroad.

Degrees combined with Hebrew and Jewish Studies

BA Ancient Languages (OR8U)

This unique degree offers training in an unparalleled range of ancient languages and their associated history, culture and textual traditions. Students study Hebrew and either Greek or Latin throughout the programme, plus up to three additional languages chosen from a wide selection including Akkadian, Aramaic, Egyptian, Sumerian, Syriac and Ugaritic
