UCL continues to soar in the Athena SWAN rankings with a Gold award for the Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health.
The Institute has been awarded a GOLD Award, joining LMCB and the Institute for Women’s Health as the third UCL Department to win this prestigious accolade.
Professor Rosalind Smyth, Director of the Institute said “I am immensely proud of this exceptional achievement, which reflects the very positive approach to equality, diversity and inclusion within our community and the hard work of all who have implemented this critically important part of our academic strategy”.
Dr Philippa Mills (Associate Professor of Inherited Paediatric Metabolic Disorders) and Professor Andrew Copp (Glaxo-Wellcome Professor of Developmental Neurobiology), who co-lead the department's Equality Diversity and Inclusion team said: "We are, of course, delighted to receive this award. It recognises a concerted focus over several years to achieve 50:50 gender balance at senior levels with visible role models and a culture of flexible working enjoyed by students and staff at all levels.”
The university also achieved new Silver departmental awards for the Institute of Neurology and UCL Chemistry as well as Bronze awards for UCL Earth Sciences and Medical Physics.
