UK Neuromuscular Translational Research Conference 2018
The eleventh UK Neuromuscular Translational Research Conference was held on 19th and 20th April 2018, at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge.
We were very pleased that this conference continued to be jointly hosted by the MRC Centre for Neuromuscular Diseases and Muscular Dystrophy UK. Major translational themes this year included:
- Genetic Therapies
- Advances in Inherited Neuropathies
- Myostatin Biology
- Advances in Mitochondrial Disorders
- Challenges in Clinical Trials
Following the conference, MDUK will again hosted a patient information day. These days provide an opportunity for people to hear directly from some of our conference speakers about the latest research into their specific conditions.
We received over 120 high quality abstracts, and there were platform presentations, flash presentations and dedicated poster sessions each day as well as guided poster discussions. There were five poster prizes for young investigators. Accepted abstracts were published in a special supplement of the journal Neuromuscular Disorders with Professor Mary M. Reilly as the special guest editor.
