Welcome to Carole Sudre

30 July 2020

This week we welcome Carole Sudre, who joins the MRC Unit for Lifelong Health and Ageing at UCL as a lecturer.

Carole Sudre

Carole studied engineering and applied mathematics in France and graduated from Ecole Polytechnique with a specialisation in biomedical engineering from ETH Zurich in 2013. During her PhD awarded in 2016 at UCL, she developed tools to automatically quantify white matter lesions observed in particular in ageing brains from magnetic resonance imaging. These tools have now been used in multiple research cohorts and in particular the SABRE and Insight46 cohort of NSHD. During her current Alzheimer’s Society fellowship at KCL, her research work has focused on the joint detection and characterisation of different imaging markers of cerebral small vessel disease and their link to cardiovascular risk factors and cognitive function.

This is a joint appointment with the Centre for Medical Image Computing.  Carole will lead on data science application to population cohorts, uniting complementary expertise across engineering and population health science.
