The DDPP initiative will be an important analysis in the run up to COP21 in Paris, December 2015

In September 2014, in support of the World Leader’s Climate summit, the international initiative Deep Decarbonisation Pathways Project (DDPP) submitted an interim report to the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon, highlighting how the world’s highest emitting countries can decarbonise their economies and reduce emissions to a level compatible with the 2 ⁰C climate target. The DDPP initiative, backed by the UN and French Government, will be an important analysis in the run up to COP21, taking place in Paris in December 2015. 
 

The initiative will highlight that nationally-orientated action can deliver pathways consistent with deep decarbonisation of the global energy system whilst meeting development objectives, but will require strong international cooperation on technology development, increased investment levels in low carbon technologies and robust national and regional policy frameworks. 
 

The final DDPP report is scheduled to be published towards the end of summer 2015, and will be preceded by the publication of 15 country analyses.
