Chee-Kit Lai, a graduate of the Bartlett, UCL, runs an award-winning BSc Architecture Unit 9 at the Bartlett, UCL and is also joint course co-ordinator on Project X (BSc Architectural Studies). He has also taught at Central St Martins and Chelsea College of Art & Design and is a visiting critic at a number of leading UK universities.
Chee-Kit Lai is an architect and Director of Mobile Studio Architects. He is also an RIBA Awards Assessor. Prior to setting up the practice he has gain considerable experience from working for a number of successful small/medium sized design-led firms including Dr Ken Yeang, Peter Barber Architects and Featherstone Associates. He was project architect for a variety of high-profile clients and projects types.
Mobile Studio Architects has been nominated for numerous awards including AJ Small Projects 2011 and BD Young Architect of the Year Award 2008. Other shortlisted awards include The Resourceful Architect competition by The Royal Society of Art and Architecture Foundation and runner-up in the V&A Museum Architectural Residency. In 2010, the practice sold the Style Wars chess-set at the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition.
Clients include UCL Museums & Collections, King's College London, New London Architecture, Tate Modern, Serpentine Gallery, Camden Council, EiC Southwark, etc. The practice is also actively involved in areas of architecture such as designing public engagement and widening participation workshops for clients such as The Big Draw, UCL Widening Participation and RIBA Education.
