Now that you are learning to pronounce Yorùbá words, we will highlight some distinctive characters of the Yorùbá alphabet and their use.

Gb such as in:

Gbémi (carry me)
Ìgbéyàwó (wedding)

P such as in:

Ìpàdé (meeting)
Àpáta (rock)

such as in:

Ṣòkòtò (trousers)
Àṣírí (secret)

The vowels in the Yorùbá alphabet are a, e, ẹ, i, o, ọ, u. You will notice that distinct from the other vowels, and both have dots underneath them. Below are examples of where these characters are used:
