UCL Centre for Humanities Education

The UCL Centre for Humanities Education serves as a hub for developing, innovating, researching, and sharing practices and approaches to education across the multi-disciplinary UCL Arts & Humanities.

Informed by UCL’s education priorities and strategies and in close dialogue and collaboration with our departments, staff and students, it is a central ambition of the Faculty to provide our students with opportunities to learn for the future by, for instance, enabling studies across disciplines, cultures, and experiences; through new configurations of on campus and online modes of teaching, learning, and assessments; by opening our education offer to a wider range of learners; and by developing new synergies between humanities education, graduate lives, and the careers of the future. Our vision is for the Centre to play a pivotal role in enabling our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes to deliver on these ambitious goals.

The Centre aspires to:

  • Foster and promote educational practices based on inclusivity, sustainability, and care.
  • Support a community of practice that involves academics, students, and professional services staff in sharing good practices.
  • Encourage innovative Humanities education that will directly impact and improve students’ learning experiences.
  • Lead nationally and internationally in HE Humanities education by nurturing a collaborative, outward-looking research community and by supporting and enabling research communication and publications.
  • Encourage and support colleagues towards career promotion, HEA and CMALT Fellowships.
