10 Questions with... Jessica Arnold

Meet Jessica Arnold, the new Faculty Communications and Digital Content Officer. Find out a bit more about her...

Hello! Tell us a little bit about yourself, and what you do at UCL.

Hi, I’m Jessica Arnold and I’ve joined UCL Arts & Humanities as the new Communications and Digital Content Officer. I previously worked in a children’s literacy charity and look forward to bringing my knowledge and enthusiasm for digital marketing to the team.

What are you most looking forward to working on over the coming months?

I’m really looking forward to implementing lots of ideas and building on the fantastic work that has already been done. Everyone at UCL has been so warm and welcoming in my first few weeks so I look forward to meeting more colleagues and working with all the departments in the near future.

What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?

I really enjoy my career in marketing and find it fascinating to understand how people interact with social media, advertising and other marketing techniques, so even though it isn’t too dissimilar to my current career I would do something around the psychology of marketing.

What are your main interests outside work?

Outside of work I enjoy lots of activities like baking, swimming, playing board games, going to the theatre, and traveling. I love watching TV shows and films, my guilty pleasure is reality TV, I love to switch off to it after a long day.

If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

This is tough, because I prefer to snack, so I would choose crisps. It might not be the healthiest, but it is my favourite!

 Where are you happiest?

I’m happiest surrounded by my friends, family and partner, Ricardo, eating good food and playing games. Some favourites include Articulate, Empire (a family fave) and Muffin Time.

If you could develop a new skill - and reach an advanced level within a week - what would it be?

I would love to learn a new language, I have recently begun learning Danish and would love to master that in a week, it might take me a bit longer in real life…

What is your favourite podcast?

I enjoy quite a few different podcasts: Happy Place, The Diary of a CEO, The Receipts and You’re Dead to Me are a few of my favourites.

What’s your favourite city, and why?

Copenhagen, Denmark. This city and country holds a special place in my heart as my best friend is half Danish and now lives there, I’ve known her since I was 1 and so have been lucky to experience Danish culture and life through her.

Tell us a joke!

6 is scared of 7 because 7, 8, 9 but why did 7 eat 9?

Because you're supposed to eat 3 squared meals a day.
