UCL Immigration Advice Assistants

An opportunity has arisen through the UCL Centre for Access to Justice to undertake paid work with UCL Registry as Immigration Advice Assistants.

About the Role:

  • Students will be trained specifically in Tier 4 immigration rules to conduct one-to-one meetings with international students to check their Tier 4 Applications. Students will also provide administrative support to the UCL Immigration & Compliance staff team.

 

Time Commitment:

  • Students are asked to commit to a minimum of 3 shifts per week. Shifts are 4.5 hours each and run either from 9:30am-1pm or 2pm-5:30pm. Students may be able to sign up for more shifts should they wish. 
  • The role runs roughly from Monday 2nd September to the 14th of October 2019 with a 2 day training period taking place on Monday 2nd September until Tuesday 3rd September. Students will receive remuneration while being trained. Students must be available for the training period.

 

Remuneration:

  • £10.55 per hour

 

Requirements

In order to apply you must:

  • Be a current UCL Law student. Students who will be graduating in July 2019 are still eligible to apply.
  • Be available and in London for the entire period from the 2nd September to 14th October. (Upon the start of term, there will be greater flexibility in the shift schedules.)
  • Please note shortlisted applicants will be interviewed on the 24th of July. Skype interviews can be arranged for students who are not in London at this time.

  • Students must submit a CV and short covering letter (no more than 300 words) to Adam Riley (adam.riley@ucl.ac.uk) by 23.59 on 15 July 2019. PLEASE NOTE THE DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED FROM THE PREVIOUS DATE OF 8 JULY.
  • In the covering letter students should confirm their availability and give an estimate of how many shifts they are willing to do.
  • Shortlisted Candidates will be notifed during the week commencing 15 July
