Get Involved: CAJ Student Pro Bono Committee

Opportunities to join the 23/24 Student Pro Bono Committee

The UCL Student Pro Bono Committee are a group of UCL Laws students who assist the CAJ in all aspects of their mission to promote access to justice and involve students in pro bono.

In previous years, the Committee has enjoyed many significant achievements including organising the first UCL Student Refugee Food Festival, as well as panel events on topics including "The Criminal Justice System in Crisis", children's welfare, and the hostile environment for migrants. They have also organised several successful fundraisers including a Lockdown Fundraising Challenge for Rhythms of Life and the Academics vs. Students Debate in support of Kalayaan.

For the first time, in 2020, the SPBC launched a Mentoring Scheme to support students with applications in non-commercial career paths.

The Committee also runs a successful blog and holds an annual essay competition in an area related to access to justice.

Each committee receives significant logistical and advisory support from CAJ to achieve their aims and objectives for the year. As such, getting involved with the committee represents an exciting opportunity for students to get involved with promoting pro bono and access to justice issues both to audiences within and outside of the UCL student body.
