Efficient Modelling and Computation of Pipeline Failure

The objective of my work is to develop a semi-analytical model for pipeline punctures
and validate it against a rigorous numerical based model. The above is intended to
address the fundamentally important drawback of the long computational run times
associated with numerical techniques for pipeline punctures.
The advantage of this, is a drastic reduction in computational run times while the
accuracy of the model prediction is kept within an acceptable and in a conservative
range. The model should take account for upstream reservoir/pumping flow source as
well as heat transfer between the fluid and surroundings.
