Research Abstract:

  This PhD project involves the mathematical modelling followed by computer simulation of discharge upon the loss of mechanical integrity of pressurised equipment containing hazardous liquids. The pressurised containment will include 2 vessels connected by short and long pipelines. The mathematical model will take into account:
- topographic profile of the pipeline
- effects of check valves and blocking valves
- Pump shutdown
This model will ultimately be integrated into PHAST software developed by DNV Managing Risk Company.
