Forced Migrant's Language Learning

Acknowledgements

Perhaps nobody believes that they will ever finish a piece of work like this. I certainly didn't. Many people helped me along the way, and I have tried to include them below.

Part of my method was to ask participants to draw a 'map' of all those who had been important in their learning. It helped us to see just how much effort other people put into our lives and how important a network is. Everything my participants have achieved has been starting fresh; I was touched by all the work they had put in, and how willing they were to help with this project. I want to thank them so much for taking the time to be part of this.

This research was possible because of the huge range of support and contact I have from growing up and being settled in this country. I have tried to recreate this through my own 'acknowledgements map'.

I have one friend who inspired all the interest I have in immigration and refugees. His success is the reason I started this research and he is an absolute star. This is for him.
