Anthony Smith 

Vice-Provost (Education & Student Affairs)

Professor Anthony Smith is responsible for the education agenda at UCL and providing leadership at institutional level. Major projects his team are working on include the Global Citizenship Programme and academic partnerships with UCL Academy, City & Islington College and Newham Collegiate Sixth Form Centre. Prior to his appointment at UCL on 1 January 2012, Professor Smith was Principal and Dean of the School of Pharmacy, University of London.

Clare Goudy 

Director of Education Planning

Clare leads the Vice-Provost (Education & Student Affairs) team and works closely with the Vice-Provost on strategic planning for UCL’s education agenda. She is responsible for the Institutional Learning and Teaching Strategy and for UCL’s education partnerships. Clare worked in the education charity sector and for the Department for Education and Skills before joining UCL in 2005.

Judith Hillmore 

Head of Student Experience and Global Citizenship

Judith is responsible for managing projects that contribute to the enhancement of the student experience across UCL. This includes promotion of the National Student Survey and co-ordination of the institutional response. She also oversees the delivery of the UCL Global Citizenship Programme and Education for Global Citizenship at UCL. Judith worked in publishing and the charitable sector before joining UCL in 2001.

Global Citizenship Programme Manager

Josh co-ordinates the UCL Global Citizenship Programme, a two-week course designed to help UCL students boost their studies, enhance their future and make an impact on the world. It is open to all undergraduates and takes place after summer exams. He is also responsible for the Social Enterprise Grants scheme, which is UCL’s largest student grant fund. Having graduated from UCL in 2009, he returned in 2012 after a period working for a major national charity.

Education Partnerships Manager

UCL is the only university that acts as sole sponsor of an Academy school – the UCL Academy in Camden. UCL also has partnerships with City & Islington College and Newham Collegiate Sixth Form Centre. Mark is responsible for co-ordinating UCL’s support for these institutions, including a programme of activities and a large-scale mentoring programme. Mark previously worked in widening participation to university and the educational charity sector before joining UCL in 2012.

Christopher Cullen 

Project Manager (Education & Estates)

Christopher Cullen’s current projects include working with Eventmap to improve UCL’s timetabling and its use of the teaching estate, managing the Graduate Support Scheme – a pilot of bursaries and other incentives aimed at students from disadvantaged backgrounds – and administering the Teaching Innovation and Teaching Equipment Grants. Christopher is also the Departmental Administrator.

Luke Davis 

Communications Manager (Education)

Luke is responsible for editing the Teaching and Learning Portal – a UCL site that gathers news stories, features and case studies about the innovative methods being used at the university. He also offers communications support to the rest of the Vice-Provost (Education & Student Affairs) team, helping to publicise events and projects. Luke is a trained journalist and worked for a London-based communications agency before joining UCL in January 2014.

Verity Farnham 

Personal Assistant to Professor Anthony Smith, Vice-Provost (Education & Student Affairs)

Verity is the first point of contact for all enquiries to the Vice Provost (Education & Student Affairs) office. She is responsible for meeting and greeting visitors, managing Professor Smith’s diary, servicing committees and assisting with the administration of projects. Verity also provides course administration support for the Global Citizenship Programme. Prior to taking this post, Verity worked at the University of Kent and in the Wolfson Institute of Biomedical research at UCL.
