Study Abroad Events
The Study Abroad Team hold a number of Study Abroad Events across the academic year. Full details about each of our key events can be found below.One-off events will be advertised via the news feed.
You can also use the calendar for quick reference, or copy events to your own Google Calendar so that you have all the dates to hand.
As part of our ongoing support for students prior to and during their period of study abroad, we offer a programme of events in the Spring which help students to think about and prepare for some of the practical challenges a year abroad can bring.
'Can I afford my Year Abroad?' - 09 February 2015
Having sufficient funds to cover your year abroad is essential - you need to be sure you can cover your living and travel expenses so that you can get the best out of the experience without the added worry of where you’ll find your next month’s rent. If you're due to go abroad in 2015/16, come along to the "Can I afford my year abroad?" workshop with the Study Abroad Team for some tips on planning and budgeting your year abroad finances.
This event is being run as part of National Student Money Week.
To register your place, please visit Eventbrite and complete the booking process.
Pre-departure Preparation Programme
Detials of the pre-departure programme will be listed under the 'Preparing to go abroad' section of the website.
UCL's annual Study Abroad Fair is aimed at all undergraduate students who are taking part in, or are considering taking part in, the study abroad programme at UCL. Not sure if you're eligible to take part? Check our page on Eligibility to make sure. Although the information is primarily aimed at students on non-language degrees, students from SELCS, SSEES, BASc and ESPS are welcome to attend and there will be representatives from those departments available to take questions.
What is the Study Abroad Fair all about? Watch our video to find out more!
Attending the fair is a chance to:
- View information about UCL's partner universities
- Speak to UCL students who have recently returned from a period of study abroad about their experiences
- Meet exchange students from our partner institutions who are currently studying at UCL
- Find out more about the Erasmus programme and talk to other students who have taken part in the programme
- Talk to representatives from UCL services and external companies who work to support study abroad students.
Your Global Career
We know that for many of you your time abroad will have been an important learning curve, providing experiences which may shape your future. In order to help you do this, we have put together a special session specifically for Study Abroad students which aims to show you how you can formalise these experiences to enrich your CV and interview responses.
As well as information from UCL Careers, you will also have the chance to hear from graduate employer Unilever about the kinds of things they're looking for in a global graduate, and learn about volunteering opportunities which can help you build on your experiences from the VSU. We will also welcome back some of our study abroad alumni, who will be on hand to talk about their own careers and do some networking.
This free event is a one-off and tickets are available on a first-come-first-served basis. Once capacity is reached, we will operate a waiting list service. Invitations to register will be sent directly to those who are eligible.
